And now this mountain that we see beyond,
Blue from a distance, green as we go near,
Pair, beautiful she ever shall appear,
With Nature and with earth our common bond.
Of all her changing moods we have grown fond,
In sun and rain, bright days and evenings drear,
With white clouds capped, or with a rainbow clear,
A landmark with our joys and sorrows bound.
My dreams of you a soaring mountain rise
From quiet panoramas of the past,
I have my turns of silver and gray skies,
But changeless through all change my love is cast,
The dreams I dream through starlight and moonrise
Are all of you till breaks the dawn at last.
