TO LEONOR

by Luis G. Dato

I would my eyes could see
If hers were black or gray,
Her smiles were all to me
Sweet roses blown in May;
Yet all alone we stray,
In vales of love to stay
Can hear the melody
Of poetry in song;
My heart is telling me
That it will not be long,
When all her charms divine
Will be forever mine.
