For, dearest one, I love you with a love
More elemental than the earth we tread,
More cosmic than the suns that roam o’erhead,
The starry firmament that shines above.
To love immense, tremendous, need I prove?
The world should know ’tis better felt than said,
A love without which I’d as lief be dead,
If, in despite, your heart I cannot move.

O muse of mine, be unto me a wife,
My inspiration and my life’s great goal,
Be you my solace in the mundane strife,
And as the years through infinite spaces roll,
Give happiness and meaning to my life,
The ultimate, steadfast haven of my soul.
