My dear, my dear, this time you’re dressed in blue!
And not as in weeks past in angry red,
Is it that now your wrath at me is dead,
Or to indifference you bid adieu?
Is it at last that now my hopes of you
Have risen, fortune’s fairy now has led
Me to your porch I have not visited
So long, that now my calls I can renew?
O dear, blue is the hue of deathless hope,
Which springs eternal in the human heart,
And in my spirit ever shall abide.
Exuding perfume, now hope’s flowers ope
And nevermore from me, from you depart,
But deathlessly bloom ever by our side!
