Not because unspoken
Can you now say unbroken
There was no park
In the dark,
No park in the darkness,
No dark in the parkness,
And a night-ride in a bus.

For your curls
Whipped in the wind,
And the warmth of your nearness
Has an arc of fragrance
Rushing from your hair in the wind.

Your hands were cool like silk
Blown in the roar of the traffic,
In the lull of wheels and motors
Like notes of a Schubert’s serenade
Pilgriming in the noise.

And the wheels screeched
And collided and were wheels no more,
You and I unspoken
In a park,
In the dark,
And can you say unbroken?
