By Luis G. Dato

We have not yet forgotten you, Rizal
Nor ever will, while yet we worship
Right, Deeming it still transcendent over might,
And for whose sake you heeded country’s call,

Its welfare to equate with boon for all
Our woes resulting from its martyred plight,
With heroes fallen in the long, dark night
For the dear motherland to gladly fall.

As you thus lived and died, you live again,
Timeless, colossal in your deathless faith,
Your gift of life for home to immolate
In sacrifice the years shall not find vain.
You live, Rizal! because you feared not death
To meet your glorious rendezvous with fate.
